By now, we have seen and known pretty much everything to do with the upcoming Xiaomi flagship, including how it looks, what powers it, and even the kind of photographs that its purported 48-megapixel primary rear camera can shoot. If all that was left for you to figure — and Xiaomi to disclose — at the launch, was its price, then ‘lo and behold, we apparently have that as well now.

A teaser poster for the Xiaomi Mi 9 with Alita: Battle Angel has seemingly revealed the possible prices for both the Mi 9 and its souped up Explorer Edition variant. According to the teaser, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will be priced at RMB 3,499 (approximately Rs 37,000). This will be the standard edition flagship, which is set to get a standard rear panel (possibly with gradient paint finishes) and a three-camera setup headlined by the 48-megapixel Sony sensor. The Explorer Edition of the Mi 9, meanwhile, gets a bigger upgrade than its predecessor, which was only a cosmetic upgrade over the Mi 8.
Along with the transparent rear panel, the Mi 9 Explorer Edition is also expected to include a fourth camera module, which might be an ultra wide-angle camera unit. Furthermore, the presence of red accents also suggest that it may be focused on gaming and the enthusiast segment in general, and include up to 12GB of RAM. With the added performance, the teaser suggests that the Mi 9 Explorer Edition may be priced at RMB 5,999 (roughly Rs 63,000). If these prices turn out to be true, then they will be significantly higher than what Xiaomi has priced its previous flagships at.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 takes a more conventional flagship smartphone design approach, with a waterdrop notch incorporating the front-facing camera. A separate teaser poster shared on Weibo boasts of Xiaomi’s “beautiful chin” on the Mi 9, which at 3.6mm, is shown to be comparatively thinner than many of its competitors. While that seems to be an added point scored for Xiaomi, the pricing factor may be a bit of a concern. This, however, is only a rumour as of now, the final word on which shall be revealed in four days.
