HIGHLIGHTS
The iPhone 8 Plus will integrate OLED displays
The smartphones are expected to sport a bezel-less design
Samsung and LG to supply these display panels
The iPhone will celebrate its ten-year anniversary next year. To commemorate the big milestone, Apple is said to be making big changes, including skipping the ‘s’ nomenclature to move directly to the iPhone 8. As always, the rumours have started to pick up pace, and the latest one brings exciting design changes. The iPhone 8 is now tipped to sport bezel-less design with curved edges on all sides.

The latest leak comes from Barclays’ analysts Blayne Curtis and Christopher Hemmelgarn who cite supply chain sources they met during a trip to Asia. The analysts claim that the iPhone 8 models will have the same sizes overall, but their display sizes will increase to 5-inch and 5.8-inch because of the bezel-less design vision.

While they didn’t speak about a third variant in the offing, the analyst did stress on Apple’s shift to OLED display panels. These new displays are said to be more battery efficient, and offer better colour accuracy and deeper blacks. Also the plastic OLED panels will allow the iPhone 8 screen to bend at the edges and introduce curved-edges on all sides. The OLED panels are going to be exclusive to the iPhone 8 Plus model, and will be manufactured by Samsung and LG for now. Foxconn-acquired Sharp was expected to manufacture the OLED panels, but due to supply issues, Sharp will only be able to come through in production volume by 2018.
The analysts also suggest that Apple’s 3D Touch may see a change to a new ‘film-based solution’. Currently, the iPhone 7 uses a flexible PCB technology to bring in 3D Touch on the smartphone. Past leaks further indicate that the iPhone 8 will come with advanced wireless charging technology that will allow users to charge the phone even from 15 feet away, without the need of a wireless charging plate.
Apart from that, the iPhone 8 is tipped to sport an all-glass back, a new A11 processor, and a new Touch ID system.

Samsung’s Galaxy C9 Pro rumoured to launch alongside Galaxy C9
Samsung teases “Next level of antenna craftsmanship” for Galaxy C9 Pro
Galaxy C9 also leaked in Tenaa listing
Shortly after Samsung’s next metal-clad Galaxy C9 smartphone was teased by the company, new teaser images have surfaced online that seem to provide a closer look at the Galaxy C9 Pro. The new teaser images show the design of the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro, which is tipped to launch alongside the Galaxy C9.

In one of the teasers, the company promotes the design of the Galaxy C9 Pro and says, “Next level of antenna craftsmanship”. The teasers indicate that the new smartphone may be launched in Rose Gold colour as well. Unfortunately, no other details of the alleged Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro smartphone are available officially. The teaser was first picked up by Galaxy Club from Weibo.

Additionally, Samsung’s long-rumoured Galaxy C9 has reportedly passed Tenaa, the Chinese telecommunications certification authority. The listing reveals some specifications and images of the alleged device codenamed as SM-C9000.

According to the Tenaa listing, the SM-C9000 aka Samsung Galaxy C9 features a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Amoled display; an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz; 6GB of RAM; 64GB of inbuilt storage; a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 16-megapixel front camera.

Next iPhone Again Tipped to Be Called iPhone 6SE; 32GB as New Base Variant

Next iPhone Again Tipped to Be Called iPhone 6SE; 32GB as New Base Variant

HIGHLIGHTS

  • GeekBench leak hints the upcoming iPhone will be called iPhone 6SE
  • A retail box with the iPhone 6SE branding also leaked
  • Apple to ditch the base 16GB variant and offer 32GB instead

The upcoming iPhone is undoubtedly the most anticipated smartphone of the year, and rumours surrounding the smartphone have been too many. What’s more interesting this year, is that many conflicting reports are surfacing online making it impossible for us to speculate with ease. One thing seems almost certain though – the next iPhoneis set to break Apple’s tick tock cycle and be unveiled with minimal design changes. Because of these few changes, contradicting reports of the iPhone being called the iPhone 6SE are coming in. Today, we have two leaks in the form of retail box images and Geekbench scores that indicate the coming of the iPhone 6SE. Additionally, there is also a leak that reiterates the end of the 16GB storage variant.

The first one comes in the form of photographed pictures of the iPhone 6SE retail box. The images don’t seem to be photoshopped and show the retail box clearly with the iPhone 6SE branding. There is a separate leak of a Geekbench score of 5,210 in multi-core testing, and 3,042 in single-core testing. The image also shows the model number as iPhone 6SE. The man who leaked it also did the same test on iPhone 6s and scored 4,427 and 2,542 points respectively.

x

Furthermore, tipster Malignant has again instilled faith that the next iPhone will say goodbye to the 16GB base variant. Apple will instead slide in 32GB as the base storage variant, and apparently the 64GB will also be scrapped to make way for the 128GB mid-variant. The top variant will offer a new 256GB storage option.

Whatever the name be, the upcoming iPhone is said to have no 3.5mm audio jack, and the larger variant is tipped to sport a dual camera setup. Another feature that is on the see-saw is the Smart Connector, with too many conflicting reports to put a pin on one decision. Apple should have sent invites by now, but it clearly hasn’t so the rumoured September 23 availability could just be true.

Moto Z Tipped to Get Hasselblad Camera Mod Soon

Moto Z Tipped to Get Hasselblad Camera Mod Soon

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Leak suggests module will carry a Hasselblad branding
  • Camera module expected to be launched next week at IFA
  • Camera module tipped to have a 10X optical zoom

When Moto Z was about to be launched, there was an excitement around the smartphone less because of the actual hardware specifications on it and more because of the swappable mods that could enhance the utility of the device manifolds. As the various mods were introduced, the anticipated camera module was found missing. If we go by the latest leaks, it seems like the module might finally be coming to Moto Z- that too in partnership with one of the most legendary professional camera makers in the world, Hasselblad.

Leaked images posted by fan site Moto G3 suggest that the much awaited camera module will not only come with a Hasselblad branding, but will also feature a powerful 10X optical zoom lens that will ensure that your images look sharp despite zooming in from a long range.

Even though there is no information regarding the sensor on the camera mod, because of its small size, the Hasselblad’s signature medium format sensor probably won’t make it to the Moto Mod. The images include promotional material, which point to a Xenon flash, Raw format option, and automatic backup feature. A live photo shows f/3.5-f/6.5 aperture range, and a 4.5-45mm focal range.

According to the report, the module can be expected to be launched at IFA event in Germany, which starts September 2. Despite no leak regarding the price of the camera module, the Hasselblad branding suggests that the addition might not come in cheap.

x

Based on the focal length, the report speculates the use of a 1/1.7 to 1/2-inch sensor like in some of the premium compact cameras, giving a field of view close to a 21mm to 24mm lens on a full-frame camera. As with every other leak, we will have to wait till the actual announcement by the company for an official confirmation.

It will be an understatement to say that HTC’s One A9shares some design similarities with Apple’s iPhone 6/ iPhone 6s, with critics as well as consumers around the world pointing out how the devices look exactly the same, barring some minor changes here and there. If rumours are to be believed, the successor to the HTC phone will not only carry a similar hardware design but also the naming convention followed by latest smartphones in Apple’s iPhone series.

According to a person familiar with the matter, HTC is planning to unveil the successor to its One A9 smartphone a day before the scheduled start of IFA in Germany and it will be called HTC One A9s,reports Venture Beat’s Evan Blass. As per the leaked images of the smartphone provided to the website, except for repositioning of camera lenses, flash, and sensors, the hardware design of the smartphone looks exactly like its predecessor.

The HTC branding has been removed from the front of the phone and from the leaked images it looks like the smartphone will come in Black, Gold, and bluish-silver colour variants.

x

There have not been many leaks regarding the phone’s specifications but it is believed to come with a 13-megapixel rear camera, unchanged from predecessor, and a 5-megapixel front camera.

  • The phone is expected to be launched on September 6

The leaks regarding Motorola’s anticipated Moto Z Play smartphone have been constant and now the alleged smartphone has not only been leaked in the form of a promotional poster but seems to have also gone through the tests at the benchmark website GFXBench. Interestingly, the specifications of the device are largely in line with earlier leaks.

As per the specifications mentioned on GFXBench, the Moto Z Play sports a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) display and is powered by an 2GHz octa-core CPU along with the Adreno 506 GPU. As per the GFXBench, Moto Z Play will pack 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. 2016 Nexus Phones Tipped to Get Animated Home Button, Night Light, and More

2016 Nexus Phones Tipped to Get Animated Home Button, Night Light, and More

HIGHLIGHTS

  • New animation tipped to be associated with Google Assistant
  • The home button turns into four coloured dots in animation
  • Animation reported to stop working when Google Now is turned off

According to leaks, Google will be introducing a ‘flowery’ new animation to the home button on the onscreen navigation keys with the rumoured new launcher it will ship with the 2016 Nexus phones – something that may make its way to other Android 7.0 Nougat phones as a launcher.
As per the leaked gif image when you long press the home button, it turns into four small dots with the same colours that are associated with Google’s Assistant with a swift animation (seen below), reports Android Police. To further clear any doubts, the site says that its source has confirmed that when the Google Now feature is turned off for the smartphone, the animation goes away.googleassistant_homeanimation_1.gif

Currently the animation makes Google Now on Tap launch, but with Google Assistant still in development and only expected to be launched alongside the new Nexus phones, it remains possible the animation will give you options that tap into Google Assistant instead.

x

The reports of customisations for the Nexus series (in this case, via the launcher) is in line with Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s statement that the company was planning on getting more opinionated with is Nexus offerings.

There remains the possibility that these changes will make their way to Android 7.0 Nougat, or, that the launcher will work on non-Nexus smartphones. As with any other Nougat 7.0 leak, we can’t say for sure whether this will make Google’s final cut or not but if the company has indeed gone ahead with the development of this animation and wants to promote its Google Assistant feature further.

In other leaks, the search giant is tipped to have changed the colour theme for its ‘settings’ menu to a UI that is dark grey, blue, and white in colour. The night mode has also been suggested to come under the name ‘Night Light’.

The settings tab is suggested to be divided into two sections ‘All’ and ‘Support’ in the latest leaks. This particular change has been suggested to be exclusive to the upcoming Nexus devices.

Another feature “Quick Screen Check”, that has surfaced, will allow the users to check their notifications without waking the phone up fully.

iPhone 2016 Pre-Orders Tipped to Begin on September 9

iPhone 2016 Pre-Orders Tipped to Begin on September 9

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone on September 5 or 6
  • Will it be called iPhone 7 or iPhone 6SE?
  • It may not be significantly different than the current iPhone

Noted tipster Evan Blass has been dropping information about release date of the upcoming iPhone every day this week, and after saying that the iPhone 2016 will hit the shelves on September 16, the tipster has now revealed the date when the smartphone is expected to go up for pre-order.

According to Blass, Apple will begin pre-orders of the new iPhone on September 9. Typically, the company begins pre-orders three days after the launch event. Therefore, if this new information from Blass is true, then the earlier speculated September 5 or 6 launch event date is rather likely. Apple’s media invites should begin to roll out mid-August revealing the official launch event date.

The new iPhone – which could be called the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 6SE, depending upon who you believe – has been making headlines for quite some time now, and very little is left to the imagination ahead of the launch.

The new iPhone should see a better camera, a shift in antenna bands, a faster A10 chipset, and a separate additional larger variant is expected to get visible hardware changes as well. Earlier leaks suggest that the Plus variant will just be larger, similar to the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus. There were also suggestions that a ‘Pro’ variant with a dual camera setup and a Smart Connector at the back will also been launched. A new Space Black colour variant has also been tipped in various leaks.

The upcoming iPhone has been leaked in photos and videos revealing the smartphone from all angles. There’s also a tip that Apple may make minimal design changes to the iPhone this year, breaking the traditional tick-tock cycle.
