HTC 10 evo Launched: Price, Release Date, Specifications, and More
HIGHLIGHTS
HTC 10 evo is a global variant of the HTC Bolt
It has been priced at TWD 17,990 (approximately Rs. 38,500) for the 32GB
It will be going on sale in Taiwan
HTC has unveiled the new HTC 10 evo smartphone in Taiwan. The new HTC 10-series smartphone has been also listed on the company’s UK site. The HTC 10 evo is the global variant of the Sprint-exclusive HTC Bolt which was launched recently in the US.

Much like the HTC Bolt, the HTC 10 evo will be available in Gunmetal, Silver, and Gold colours. The smartphone is now available to pre-order in Taiwan from the company’s E-Store. It has been priced at TWD 17,990 (approximately Rs. 38,500) for the 32GB variant while the 64GB variant has been priced at TWD 19,900 (approximately Rs. 43,000). The company website confirms that the HTC 10 evo will start shipping in Taiwan from November 28. Unfortunately, there is no word when the smartphone will be available in UK, or mention of its UK pricing.

One of the biggest highlights of the HTC 10 evo is it packs USB Type C-enabled headphones. The HTC 10 evo smartphone also comes with support for HTC BoomSound Adaptive Audio.
The HTC 10 evo smartphone, similar to the HTC Bolt, features a 5.5-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and sports a water-resistant aluminium build. Running Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, HTC 10 evo comes with features like split-screen view, free unlimited photo storage with Google Photos app, and inbuilt Google Duo video calling app. The handset sports fingerprint scanner below the display which is claimed to unlock the device in just 0.2 seconds.
One of the biggest questionable hardware choices made by HTC for the HTC 10 evo (and the HTC Bolt) is putting the date Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 under the hood, which is known to be responsible for heating issues with many smartphones. It packs 3GB of RAM and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 2TB).

It sports a 16-megapixel rear camera which comes with OIS (optical image stabilisation), 4K video recording, and PDAF (phase detection autofocus). There is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera on-board as well and the smartphone also features screen flash. The HTC 10 evo packs a 3200mAh battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging technology.

The smartphone has 23-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel front camera
It comes with 64GB & 128GB storage options, supports 200GB microSD cards
ZTE sub-brand Nubia, celebrating its fourth anniversary on Monday, has unveiled the Nubia Z11 mini S smartphone in its home market. The smartphone’s biggest highlight is the 23-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection autofocus that can focus on an object in 0.1 seconds. It is the fourth model in the company’s Z11 series, following the Nubia Z11, Z11 Max, and Z11 mini.

Available in gold with black, gold, and silver options, ZTE Nubia Z11 mini S is currently up for pre-orders on the company’s official website in China at CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs. 14,867) for the 64GB variant and CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs. 18,834) for the 128GB model. The device will go on sale on October 25.

Apart from the in-built 64GB and 128GB storage options, the new Nubia Z11 mini S supports microSD cards of capacities up to 200GB. However, the microSD card takes up one of the two SIM card slots, since it features the hybrid SIM setup.
The 23-megapixel rear camera of Nubia Z11 mini S has phase-detection auto-focus, f/2.0 aperture for better lowlight imaging, and Sapphire lens. The front camera, on the other hand, has a 13-megapixel Sony IMX25 sensor with phase-detection auto-focus, f/2.2 aperture, and 5P lens.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL Get Listed by Retailer and Carriers; Specifications and Design Revealed

Google Pixel, Pixel XL Get Listed by Retailer and Carriers; Specifications and Design Revealed

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Renders reveal a variety of colour options including Black and White
  • Google’s Allo and Duo applications will come preloaded with the Pixels
  • Quick charge promises up to 7 hours of battery life in 15 minutes

With Google’s re-branded Pixel lineup ready to be unveiled on October 4, the last batch of leaks were expected to make its way on to the virtual space. Last week we saw a bunch of renders of the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones from the likes of @onleaks and Android Authority, and no we have what seems like an official listing of the device from UK store Carphone Warehouse. Separately, other renders made their way to the Internet, while Canadian carriers Bell and Telus also leaked official renders of the smartphones in both White and Black colour variants.

(Also see: What to Expect From Google’s October 4 Event)

Carphone Warehouse reveals the Pixel devices in all its glory, along with highlights of major features and specifications. Both the Pixel and Pixel XL renders are shown along with the tagline “Introducing Pixel. Phone by Google” emphasising Google’s self-branded line. The renders are pretty much in line with last week’s leaks. The home screen shows circular icons with a new UI that is exclusive to the Pixels. The navigation buttons are present on screen leaving a fairly large bezel at the bottom of the phone.

The images form the site also give us a proper look at all the sides of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL with the power and volume control buttons on the right, a headphone jack on the top and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. There also appears two slits on either sides of the USB Type-C port which is likely to be dual speakers. The back of the device features a camera and flash module with noise cancelling holes next to it on the top left corner, a fingerprint sensor in the middle and the ‘G’ logo at the bottom. The top and bottom of the back will feature a combination of contrasting colours.

Moreover, the website also suggests that Google’s latest Allo and Duo applications will come preloaded with the Pixel. Quick charge promises up to 7 hours of battery life in 15 minutes. Another slide reveals that the two devices will offer unlimited storage for photos and videos at full resolution with Google Photos.

The website also lists full specifications for each device, although you should take them with a pinch of salt as of now. The Pixel is said to feature a 5-inch full-HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) Amoled display with a pixel density of 441ppi and Gorilla Glass 4 on top. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM.

(Also see: Google Pixel Smartphones Will Not Be Easy to Root, Reports Suggest)

Meanwhile, the Google Pixel XL is listed with a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) display sporting a pixel density of 534ppi and Gorilla Glass 4 on top. Other than the size and resolution of the display, the rest of the features are similar to the smaller Pixel. Both the devices also feature a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front.

The Pixel and Pixel XL will run on Android 7.1 Nougat with Pixel Launcher. The listings also mention both 32GB and 128GB inbuilt storage variants. Storage expansion via microSD card is also listed, but this seems unlikely considering Google’s entire previous Nexus lineup.

The Pixel is listed to sport a 2770mAh battery, and the Pixel XL is listed with a bigger 3450mAh battery, both with fast charging capability. Live Cases, which were introduced for the previous Nexus devices, will also be offered for the Pixel smartphones.

On Saturday, some more renders were leaked showing the Pixel smartphone in against a natural background in a variety of colour combinations. Canadian Carrier Bell also revealed renders of the Pixel that provide a clear look of the home screen with the new Pixel Launcher and navigation buttons.

iPhone 7 Release Date, Price, Specifications, and All Other Leaks

iPhone 7 Release Date, Price, Specifications, and All Other Leaks

HIGHLIGHTS

  • iPhone 7 is expected to be unveiled on September 7
  • The new iPhone models are unlikely to bring major design changes
  • iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are tipped to get storage bumps

After a long wait, we officially know the release date for the iPhone 7, probably the most anticipated smartphone of the year. Apple has sent out invitations for a special event on September 7, where it is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The iPhone 7 is not expected to see any major design tweaks, and is tipped to look similar to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, a departure from Apple’s traditional tick-tock cycle. Initial rumours had suggested that to emphasise the minimal upgrades in this year’s offerings, Apple might call the next iPhone the iPhone 6SE, though the prominent placement of ‘7th’ on the invite should put those rumours to bed.

iPhone 7 price
Apple is expected to keep the same price points as previous generations for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, with of course a large premium for the top-end 256GB variant. Another leak tips pricing of the rumoured variants – the 32GB variant of the iPhone 7 is said to be priced at CNY 5,288 (roughly Rs. 52,900), the 64GB variant at CNY 6,088 (roughly Rs. 60,900), and the 256GB at CNY 7,088 (roughly Rs. 70,900). The iPhone 7 Plus is expected to be priced at CNY 6,088 (roughly Rs. 60,900) for the 32GB variant, CNY 6,888 (roughly Rs. 68,900) for the 128GB variant, and CNY 7,888 (roughly Rs. 78,900) for the256GB variant.

The iPhone 7 price in India is expected to bear a slight premium over a direct conversion, as always.

iPhone 7 launch date
Noted tipster Evan Blass has maintained that the iPhone will be launched in the week of September 12, to a specific September 16 launch date for the US market, which means that is the date it will become available in the market. Later on, it was reported that the pre-orders will begin on September 9, both of which are in line with the September 7 unveiling.

iPhone 7 specifications
Apple has traditionally employed a single iPhone version number across two years, adding an ‘s’ to mark an iterative improvement in the second, such as the iPhone 6s with respect to the iPhone 6. The company with the iPhone 6 in 2014 also started introducing two models a generation, with one catering to small screen aficionados, and the other ‘Plus’ variant providing a phablet-style large display. It is expected to do so this year as well.

Apart from the confusion surrounding the name, most other rumours are rather plausible. The next iPhone is expected to feature camera improvements in both models, with the smaller 4.7-inch offering tipped to get optical image stabilisation, and the larger 5.5-inch offering tipped to sport a dual camera setup. The Cupertino giant is expected to use a new Apple A10 SoC to power both devices, with the company also rumoured to bump up the memory alongside to 3GB of RAM.

Apple is also anticipated to bump up the base storage variant from 16GB to 32GB. Alongside the upgraded base storage rumour, the company is expected to boost the storage capacity of the top-end variant from 128GB to 256GB. The 64GB variant is also anticipated to be replaced by the 128GB variant – thus, we can expect Apple to release its next-generation iPhone models in 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage variants.

Another rumour that is seeing fewer and fewer contradictory reports as time passes, is the removal of the 3.5mm audio jack on the next iPhone models. Apple is speculated to have made the decision to do away with the current standard for audio connectivity for three reasons – to ensure the next model is very slim; to ensure the next model is waterproof (thus has minimal, easy-to-protect ports); and to give users better audio quality through the Lightning port instead. The Lightning port can also power active noise cancellation in headphones that offer it. The company is variously also rumoured to include aLightning-to-3.5mm adapter in the box, or Lightning-power EarPods instead. The removal of the jack may see the addition of dual-speaker grilles as well.

Apple is also rumoured to boost the display resolution of its next iPhone models. The current iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus sport resolutions of 750×1334 pixels and 1080×1920 pixels currently, while the corresponding iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to sport resolutions of 1080×1920 pixels and 1440×2560 pixels respectively. Apple is also tipped to include a Space Black variant this time around, though a Space Blue variant was also rumoured alongside the removal of the Space Grey colour option.

Finally, Apple is expected to make the next iPhone available in its stores in the US from September 16, with carrier availability tipped for September 23.

Moto Z Play Leaked in Images Again; Specifications Tipped on Benchmark Site

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Specifications on GFXBench are similar to earlier leaks
  • Leaked promotional poster suggests smartphone will be modular
  • The phone is expected to be launched on September 6

The leaks regarding Motorola’s anticipated Moto Z Play smartphone have been constant and now the alleged smartphone has not only been leaked in the form of a promotional poster but seems to have also gone through the tests at the benchmark website GFXBench. Interestingly, the specifications of the device are largely in line with earlier leaks.

As per the specifications mentioned on GFXBench, the Moto Z Play sports a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) display and is powered by an 2GHz octa-core CPU along with the Adreno 506 GPU. As per the GFXBench, Moto Z Play will pack 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. According to the benchmark website, the smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. As per the listed specifications, Moto Z Play will be housing a 3500mAh battery and will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

In another leak from Chinese website Weibo, reports Android Hits, a user has posted the promotional poster for Moto Z Play that suggests that the phone might support Moto Mod modules just like the other phones in the Moto Z series, and feature fast charging that delivers 10 hours of battery life with 15 minutes of charge.

PS4 Neo Specifications Leaked

PS4 Neo Specifications Leaked

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The PS4 Neo seems to be a lot more powerful than the PS4
  • Sony wants games to run at a better frame rate on the PS4 Neo
  • All PS4 games from October have to work on the PS4 and Neo

What seems to be a confidential presentation for the PS4 Neo has been made available on the Internet. It includes information its specifications and developer guidelines among other things.

According to the presentation it uses the same “Jaguar” cores as the original sporting 8 cores at 2.1GHz making it 1.3x faster than the PS4. It uses an enhanced version the original PS4’s GPU as well promising 36 compute units running at 911MHz translating into a 2.3x improvement in terms of teraflops.

The PS4 Neo will use the same 8GB GDDR5 memory albeit with a higher bandwidth of 218 gigabits per second versus the original’s 174 gigabits per second. Surprisingly the hard drive configuration remains the same, so expect it in 500GB and 1TB variants.

Furthermore, submissions for games to run on the PS4 Neo will begin next month. The process of including Neo support depends on the release date of the title. Games releasing late September and prior will be “PS4-only submission with Neo Day-1 patch” while all games from October onwards have to be for the PS4 and the PS4 Neo with Sony adding that “it is OK to release Neo-ready titles before Neo launches.”

A lot of the information in the presentation pertains to rendering techniques and resolution. Sony believes that games at 1440p on 4K displays doesn’t allow for much distinction from the usual 1080p games, rather it hopes that “titles will use checkerboard rendering (and similar techniques) to allow for resolutions much closer to 2160p.”

Also, the presentation reveals one strategy for Neo game development is to “ensure that the Neo frame rate meets or exceeds the frame rate of the game on the original PlayStation 4” perhaps to allow substantial variation between the PS4 Neo and the PS4.

Nonetheless, some of this information may not be final and subject to change. However, some segments do tie in with what we’ve heard from publishers in the past, that their upcoming releases from October onwards have to support the PS4 Neo.

As per a report in The Wall Street Journal, Macquarie Securities analyst Damian Thong said Sony might also introduce a smaller PS4 along with the PS4 Neo. Thong believes they would be revealed at a game show in September. For its part Sony declined to comment.

A September announcement for the device would hold ground what with the likes of Eurogamer and French video game distributor Innelec claiming a release this year.

While Sony has acknowledged its existence but yet to formally announce it or what it would be called when it finally hits retail, the company has made it a point for fans to know that it will not replace the PS4 in any way.
