LG V20 to Be Available in India From Thursday at Best Price of Rs. 54,999
The smartphone will go on sale from Thursday
The smartphone will launch at a best buy price of Rs. 54,999
LG V20 runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box
LG V20 smartphone finally seems to be ready to be launched in India. A Mumbai-based retailer has claimed that the LG V20 will launch at a best buy price of Rs. 54,999, while will carry an MRP of Rs. 60,000. Additionally, the LG V20 will launch with buyback schemes as well as a complimentary Bang & Olufsen headset for early buyers. The LG V20 will be available in offline retail from Thursday, December 1. Gadgets 360 has independently verified this information with another retailer, but there’s no word yet from LG on the official launch of the LG V20.

Gadgets 360 had earlier reported that the LG V20 will launch with a best buy price of Rs. 49,990. We stand by the report that LG had decided upon that price for the V20, with a launch set to happen in early November. But Gadgets 360 understands LG ran into some delays while lining up key partnerships for the launch, and the sharp decline the rupee has seen against in the last 3 weeks is likely to have prompted the rethink in the LG V20 launch price in India.

For the uninitiated, the LG V20 was the first smartphone announced that ships with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. It features a 5.7-inch IPS Quantum Display alongside a secondary display, which was also seen on the LG V10.

To recall, the V20 was unveiled in San Francisco in September and the smartphone has been anticipated to launch in India since long. In terms of other specifications, the LG V20 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820, with two cores clocked at 2.15GHz and the other two running at 1.6GHz. It will come with 32GB and 64GB storage options, with a microSD slot to expand it by another 256GB. It is backed by a 3200mAh battery. LG V20 packs in a USB Type-C port and it will be available in Titan, Silver, and Pink colours. The smartphone sports a dual rear camera setup, a 135-degree 8-megapixel lens accompanied by 16-megapixel 75-degree lens while there is a 5-megapixel 120-degree lens on the front as well.

LG V20, apart from Android 7.0 Nougat, comes with the Google In Apps search function which lets users find content from built-in apps including contacts, emails, text messages, and photos, as well as from user-installed apps. It also features the Multi-window mode, that lets you run two apps side-by-side.

Don Bradman Cricket 17 Release Date for PC Announced; May Not Be Available on Disc

Don Bradman Cricket 17 Release Date for PC Announced; May Not Be Available on Disc

Don Bradman Cricket 17 Release Date for PC Announced; May Not Be Available on Disc
Don Bradman Cricket 17’s PC release date is January 22
The game will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One on December 22
The PC version is probably digital only
If you thought you could play Don Bradman Cricket 17 on the PC at the same time as it hits the PS4 and Xbox One, think again. Developer Big Ant Studios has confirmed that the PC version of the game has been delayed to January 22.

“We have built completely new batting, bowling and fielding mechanics based on player feedback,” Big Ant Studios CEO, Ross Symons said in a prepared statement. “With Don Bradman 17 releasing right in the heart of the Aussie cricket season, we’re looking forward to players recreating the classic moments of the summer of cricket in their homes.”

(Also see: Don Bradman Cricket 17 Price in India and Release Date Confirmed)

“We were overwhelmed by the success of our first run at Don Bradman Cricket,” Symons added. “To this day players from around the world play it daily, whether they are simulating their favourite test team matchups, or playing games with as little as one over each side. We think they’re going to love the enhanced career mode, refined on-field mechanics, and enhanced visuals and animation. After all, many of the changes came as a direct result of feedback from our most dedicated fans.”

“The first Don Bradman Cricket game did a wonderful job of reflecting the heritage of The Don, and giving cricket fans around the world an authentic and accurate rendition of the sport on their gaming consoles,” Rina Hore from the Bradman Foundation said. “We’re looking forward to seeing how fans respond to this year’s greatly enhanced version.”

(Also see: Don Bradman Cricket Review: If Cricket Is a Religion, This Is Prayer)

Furthermore, it appears that Big Ant could be following the footsteps of bigger publishers like Ubisoft and EA by not having a disc version of the game available at retail for PC. Reason being, a press release from the studio mentions a retail and digital release of the game on the PS4 and Xbox One. All that’s said for PC is that it would be available on Steam a month later.

Select stores have received their units, while others are still waiting
The MacBook Pro 2016 price in India starts at Rs. 1,29,900
The new and improved MacBook Pro was launched with much fanfare last month; however no availability details for the Indian market were revealed then. Even now, the models are listed as ‘coming soon’ on the Apple website, but Gadgets 360 has learnt that Apple resellers across the country are now receiving stock of the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

We checked with a couple of Apple resellers who confirmed they have received stock, while another Mumbai-based retailer said they have not received any units. The 2016 MacBook Pro is not listed on any of the e-commerce websites either, so it’s likely that the stock has only just started trickling in. Just to recap, the 13-inch MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar is priced at Rs. 1,29,900.

(Also see:MacBook Pro 2016 Price, Specifications, Features, and Everything That’s New)

The new MacBook Pro is lighter and thinner than its predecessor, and comes integrated with faster Intel Skylake CPUs. The Touch Bar variant has an OLED panel instead of the function keys, and it shows relevant options based on the current application and context. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Function Keys has no OLED panel or Touch ID sensor. The base model is powered by a 2.0GHz Intel 6th generation ‘Skylake’ Core i5 dual-core processor with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 256GB of storage. It’s important to reiterate that only the non-Touch Bar variant is being sold in India, and the Touch Bar variants are yet to make an appearance in the Indian market. Whenever they arrive, the 13-inch variant will be priced starting at Rs. 1,55,900, and the 15-inch variant will be priced starting at Rs. 2,05,900.

Forza Horizon 3 Demo Now Available on Windows 10; HDR Support for Xbox One Demo Added
Demo requires 21GB of disk space to install
HDR support for demo on Xbox One S added
Game can be downloaded from Windows Store
Beta and demo versions of most games are released well ahead of their full release in order to build the hype around the launch of the game and let the players test their machines with the game’s requirements. The latter reason has become increasingly important as the games have become more demanding than ever. Disregarding the usual trend, Microsoft has now released a demo version of its racing game Forza Horizon 3 on Windows, more than a month after its official release.
Forza Horizon 3 has been received extremely well by the critics since its release and in our review of the game, we specifically pointed out the brilliant visuals and the wide range of the car roster available in the game. The demo version of the game on Xbox One was made available ahead of its official release but for some reason, Microsoft decided to hold back the PC version up until now.

(Also Read: Forza Horizon 3 Review)
The demo for the off-road racing game by Microsoft Studios can be downloaded from Windows Store here. The demo version of the game requires disk space of around 21GB.
It should be noted that even the minimum requirements necessary to play the game are demanding than some of the other titles on PC. As per the game’s listing, your setup requires at least 8GB of RAM and an equally or more capable processor than 3.4GHz i5 3570. In terms of graphic cards, your setup should have a graphic card equally or more capable than NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti or AMD R7 250X.

Apart from releasing the demo version of the Forza Horizon 3 for PC, the company has also introduced HDR support – which has been present on the full game from day one – to the Xbox One demo version of the game, meant for players on the Xbox One S and those using an HDR display.

Forza Horizon 3 received 9 out of a possible 10 rating in our review and we termed it as “vastly improved and polished instalment in the Forza Horizon series.” Given that the PC version also supports resolutions up to 4K, it might be the best time to check if your system is ready for this monster of a game before spending your hard earned money on it.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Now Available Worldwide for Windows, PS4, and Xbox One

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Now Available Worldwide for Windows, PS4, and Xbox OneCall of Duty: Infinite Warfare Now Available Worldwide for Windows, PS4, and Xbox One
Game available in retail stores as well as for digital download
Available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One
Gameplay trailer received flak on YouTube
Call of Duty is one of those game franchises that churns out annual editions of its game but still captivates the interest of video-game enthusiasts around the world with its releases. Now, the series has come up with its latest entry – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which is now available for retail worldwide in stores as well as digitally.

(Also See: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Review)

The game has been released on Windows PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In terms of storage size, users will need between 44.6GB to 53.6GB of free on the PS4 to install the game while on the Xbox One, they’ll need 52.1GB of free space to install Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. A day one patch to fix stability issues is out as well, weighing in at roughly 6GB. Though there were no perceptible changes on the PS4 version we played.
In our review of the game, we found the single-player campaign to be “entertaining enough to keep well worn gameplay mechanics from getting stale,” while we found that the multiplayer component of the game and its monetisation model to be glaring points of concern.

If you purchase the Legacy, Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe Edition you will also receive a copy of remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
“We began three years ago with the goal to push ourselves in an all-new direction and take players to places they’ve never been before. In Infinite Warfare, we’re telling a classic war story of good vs. evil, and adding an epic backdrop that lets us introduce a ton of innovative gameplay,” Studio Head of game’s developer Infinity Ward Dave Stohl was quoted as saying in company’s release.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare might prove to be one of the most crucial entries for the game series in recent times, as the Activision franchise has been facing serious competition from Battlefield One, the latest instalment of the rival game franchise from EA. The war, in figurative terms, between the latest entries from both franchises started right from the time when gameplay trailers for both games came out. The Infinite Warfare trailer received highly negative feedback from fans as it was downvoted in huge numbers on YouTube.

Contrastingly, Battlefield One created a positive buzz for its gameplay and was upvoted in large numbers. As the two franchises have been facing-off against each other for a long time, comparisons were drawn almost immediately. However, the game should not be discarded as we have earlier pointed out that single-player campaign shows promise with space combat, elements of exploration, and some interesting set-pieces.

“Infinite Warfare is hands-down the best story campaign we’ve had in years and is a leap forward in the fluid, fast-paced action that Call of Duty fans know and love,” CEO of Activision Eric Hirshberg was quoted as saying in company’s release.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare game has been available for pre-order in India since September and can be bought from websites like Amazon and Flipkart as well.

Google Project Fi’s Wi-Fi Assistant Feature Now Available to Nexus Users

Google Project Fi's Wi-Fi Assistant Feature Now Available to Nexus Users

  • The Wi-Fi Assistant feature was first exclusive to Project Fi users
  • The feature can now be used on all Nexus smartphones
  • Project Fi is active only on Nexus 6P, Nexus 6 and Nexus 5X smartphones

Google is introducing a nifty feature for all Nexus users to help them save precious data. The company is releasing a feature called Wi-Fi Assistant that will enable users to connect to open and free Wi-Fi networks in their area automatically. The Wi-Fi Assistant feature will be made available to Nexus users in United States, Canada, Mexico, UK, and Nordic countries only. Also, only those Nexus smartphones that are running on Android 5.1 Lollipop will see this feature.

In order to enable Wi-Fi Assistant, head to Settings > Google > Networking > Wi-Fi Assistant. Switch the toggle on and off to set your preferred settings. Once Wi-Fi Assistant is enabled, a small key will show up in the top corner. This feature will let your smartphone automatically connect to open and free Wi-Fi networks in the vicinity, thereby saving your data whenever it can. It will automatically adjust to optimal connections and switch from one network to another without interrupting service. If you wish to opt out of a specific open Wi-Fi network, then just select ‘forget this network’ against the particular network in the Wi-Fi settings panel.

The Wi-Fi Assistant feature was earlier exclusive to Project Fi-enabled devices earlier, but Google has now made it available to all Nexus users. Google unveiled Project Fi mobile telephone network in April last year in a bid to curb use of expensive roaming data and keep phone bills low. After ten months of testing, it opened the service up for all users in March this year, and launched in partnerships with Sprint and T-Mobile. Just last month, it also announced a partnership with telecom giant Three. Project Fi is active only on Nexus 6P, Nexus 6 and Nexus 5X smartphones.

BlackBerry Hub+ Suite of Apps Now Available for Android Marshmallow Devices

BlackBerry Hub+ Suite of Apps Now Available for Android Marshmallow Devices

  • BlackBerry Hub+ now available on Android Marshmallow devices
  • After free trial, you can pay $0.99 for ad-free version
  • Services might soon come to Android Lollipop and iOS devices

In the tech industry, companies that have failed to adapt quickly to changes have often seen their fortunes change in no time. Nokia, for example, was once the biggest name in mobile phone industry, but has seen its depletion in last decade. BlackBerry has faced a similar downfall due to the dominance of Apple and Google in the smartphone market, however, the company now wants to make certain amends in its strategy and be more adaptive.

As part of this strategy change, the company has now made its BlackBerry Hub+ suite available to the Android devices that are running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. BlackBerry Hub+ consists of various apps by BlackBerry like Calendar, Password Keeper, Contacts, Tasks, Device Search, Notes, and Launcher.

All you need to do to avail BlackBerry’s services on Android is download the app from Google Play, and install the services you need on an individual basis.

You will get a free trial period of 30-days initially, after which you can either pay $0.99 per month to use the ad-free version of the services or continue using the services loaded with ads but without any payment.

“We’re looking to expand access to Hub+ to customers running Android 5.0 Lollipop, and also investigating how best to deliver the BlackBerry experience on iOS devices, too,” the company said in itsofficial blog.

Even though this move cannot be seen as a positive for the mobile devices developed by the company, as it was sort of a strong selling point for many of them till date, the software offered by BlackBerry is likely to get a much wider audience as a result of this change.

Pokemon Go Now Available to Download in UK, Germany – When is India?

Pokemon Go Now Available to Download in UK, Germany - When is India?

  • Pokemon Go is now available in Germany
  • This should result in an international release soon
  • Some speculate a Thursday release for the game worldwide

Earlier in the week we reported that Pokemon Go was slated for a worldwide release soon. It seems that Niantic and The Pokemon Company are sticking to this. Reason being, the game is finally available in the UK and Germany. This is in addition to Australia, New Zealand, and the US which got it last week. This means we should see a roll out to other regions like India, China, and Japan soon enough.

(Also see: How to Download, Install, and Play Pokemon Go Right Now)

“UK Trainers, the wait is over. #PokemonGO is now officially available to be installed from Google Play or iTunes,” tweeted the official Pokemon Go account. The version available is the name out in other markets such as Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and the US, version 1.02 on iOS and version 0.29.2 on Android.

According to the Pokemon Go subreddit, users in Germany are able to access the game officially.

“You can now download Pokemon Go in Germany from the App Store. First you have to uninstall your current Version then reinstall it from the AppStore and use the same Login as before to continue with everything that you already got,” the post reads before explaining how eager fans can bypass potential issues if they obtained the game earlier.

“You can either just use the version you already have and just update it from the App Store without reinstalling OR you have to uninstall it because the App Store will tell you that it is still “not available in your country” after you uninstalled it you can refresh the Store and it should be available.”

(Also see: Pokemon Go APK Could Hijack Your Phone: How to Check If It’s Genuine)

Some speculate a Thursday launch the world over is in the offing given Apple’s App Store policies.

“The App Store usually refreshes with new releases and big updates on Thursday to enable users the entire weekend to browse and purchase,” a developer tells Gadgets 360.

(Also see: Pokemon Go Tips and Tricks)

As per The Wall Street Journal, you can expect it in your country soon. It claims that “people familiar with plans for the game said it would likely be available in other regions, including Europe, Japan, and other Asian nations within a few days.”

This bodes well for an official Indian release. Even more so when you consider that previous Nintendo efforts such as Miitomo have ignored the country altogether.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Announced, Available from July 19 Priced at Rs. 22,999

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Announced, Available from July 19 Priced at Rs. 22,999

  • Nvidia promises performance matching that of the GeForce GTX 980
  • The GTX 1060 will compete head-to-head with AMD’s Radeon RX 480
  • GTX 1060 graphics cards are aimed at value-conscious gamers

Nvidia has announced its new GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, aimed at mainstream gamers. Graphics cards based on the new GTX 1060 will be available worldwide from partner companies including Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and Zotac on July 19. There will be only one configuration featuring 6GB of GDDR5 RAM. Pricing in the US is $249 (approximately Rs. 16,858) but the official price in India has not been announced yet. We can expect it to be considerably higher to account for import duties and distribution costs.

UPDATE, July 8 2016: Nvidia’s recommended pricing for India has been confirmed at Rs. 22,999.

The new GeForce GTX 1060 comes hot on the heels of Nvidia’s high-end GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 GPUs, and seems to be aimed at the same market segment as AMD’s new Radeon RX 480. The timing of the launch, and of earlier leaks, could be a direct shot at AMD. Interestingly, the Radeon RX 480 with 4GB of RAM is priced $50 lower in the USA at $199, but AMD’s higher overheads give Nvidia a decisive advantage here in India. However, the GTX 1060’s price could make it less popular than its predecessor, the GTX 960 which sells for under Rs. 18,000.

Gamers will benefit from the same Pascal architecture that the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are based on, although the actual GPU is a smaller unit codenamed GP106, rather than the GP104 which the other two are based on. The GTX 1060 has 1280 programmable graphics processing units and can run at up to 1.7GHz when under full load. The 6GB of GDDR5 memory has a 192-bit pathway to the GPU, resulting in memory bandwidth of up to 8Gbps. The maximum power draw is rated at 120W, and cards featuring Nvidia’s reference cooler will have a single 6-pin PCIe connector.

nvidia_geforce_gtx1060_specs_nvidia.jpgMost notably, the GeForce GTX 1060 dispenses with SLI connectors altogether. Nvidia had de-emphasised SLI with the launch of the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070, first saying enthusiasts would need a special key to unlock it, and then limiting it to two cards down from four. Now, the company says its research shows that only a miniscule number of people ever used SLI on mid-range cards, and it believes that one GTX 1060 delivers enough performance on its own.

Nvidia will offer a Founders’ Edition version of the GTX 1060, but it has a simple plastic shroud and blower fan rather than the elaborate metal vapour-chamber cooler that gives the GTX 1080 Founders’ Edition its premium pricing. It will be available only in France, Germany and the UK, directly through Nvidia’s online store, priced at EUR 319/GBP 275. Partner companies will offer GTX 1060 cards with their own custom cooler and PCB designs, not Founders’ Editions with their own branding, as is the case with the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070.

GTX 1060 cards will have three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs as well as a single HDMI 2.0b port and one dual-link DVI-D port by default. Partners might change this arrangement around on their custom designs, with extra HDMI outputs most likely replacing DisplayPort to allow users to connect a VR headset and monitor at the same time.

GeForce_GTX_1060_Back_nvidia.jpgNvidia’s new Pascal architecture, which underpins the entire GeForce 10-series, is the company’s first on a new 16nm process, which results in greatly improved performance and lower power consumption than previous offerings. Pascal has also been designed to enable simultaneous multi-projection which allows for multiple perspectives of the same scene to be rendered in one pipeline pass, greatly improving performance for VR and multi-monitor experiences. SMP support is built into the Unreal 4 and Unity engines, and will be coming to over 30 titles including Obduction, Raw Data, Unreal Tournament, and Adr1ft.

The company also points out that the Ansel screen capture feature which debuted with the more expensive cards is also fully supported, and will debut in July with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst.

Nvidia promises equal or greater performance from the GTX 1060 as from last year’s GeForce GTX 980, plus significant overclocking potential. Stay tuned for a full review once these cards are available in the market.
