Final Fantasy XV Day One Edition Has a Special Surprise for Fans
HIGHLIGHTS
Final Fantasy XV’s release date is November 29
The game is out early in several countries including India
Its day one edition has developer autographs
With Final Fantasy XV available in more than a few countries before release date, it was only a matter of time before India saw an early release of the game as well. Gadgets 360 managed to get an early copy and we noticed that the game has something extra.

Aside from the obvious day one downloadable content (dubbed as the Masamune DLC weapon), a reversible cover, and obligatory pamphlets that yields information on customer support, Square Enix also included the signatures of the development team with a background that reads: “Thank you for your support”.

(Also see: Final Fantasy XV Day One Patch Details Revealed; Suggests Game on Disc Is Incomplete)

It’s an interesting addition. More so considering most game companies don’t usually take this approach — allowing an entire or seemingly sizeable part of the development team to be known outside of the game’s credits.

Nonetheless, the developer autographs are present in the Peruvian version of the game which shares the same ESRB rating as the US version. Safe to say day one US buyers will get this as well. Considering that the day one edition of Final Fantasy XV is the same across the world, Indian buyers should get it too, along with extra DLC depending where you pre-order from.

So far, initial impressions of Final Fantasy XV seem positive. At least in terms of technical performance, what with performance before installing the patch being a whole lot better than what it was in Episode Duscae, the Platinum Demo, and the Judgement Disc Demo on a standard PS4. Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for detailed, spoiler-free impressions soon.

SanDisk Ultra microSDXC Premium Edition Card, 2-in-1 SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 Launched in India
HIGHLIGHTS
The 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC Premium Edition is priced at Rs. 13,390
The Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 is available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB
A WD survey shows that many smartphone users struggle with low storage
SanDisk, the flash storage company now owned by WD, has launched two new products for mobile users in India: the 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition card, and the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 pen drive with both USB and Micro-USB connectors.

The 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card is aimed at mainstream users in need of a high-capacity storage expansion option for an Android smartphone or other portable device. Users can record up to 24 hours of full-HD video or store loads of high-quality music and other files. Transfer speeds are rated at up to 95MBps, and the card is also touted to be waterproof, shockproof, temperature proof and x-ray proof.

First announced globally in June, the new microSD card will be available in India starting from December 2016 as an Amazon.in exclusive, priced at Rs. 13,390. It will later be available more widely online as well as offline.

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 is also aimed at Android smartphone users. It features two physical connectors; standard USB 3.0 Type-A as well as Micro-USB which is commonly found on smartphones. The designs allows for USB-OTG functionality with compatible Android devices as well as easy sharing and transfers between the device and any PC.
The drive features a sliding body which covers either connector at any time, and will fit on a keychain. It will be available in capacities ranging from 16GB to 128GB. Transfer speeds are as high as 150MBps when using the USB 3.0 connector.

Availability will be exclusive to Flipkart at first, with prices starting at Rs. 650 for the 16GB model and going up to Rs. 3,600 for 128GB. Other online and offline channels will sell the device at a later date. All sales are covered by a five-year warranty.
Both products can be used with SanDisk’s free Memory Zone app for Android, which lets users browse through their stored content and back up their data.

WD has also released the results of a study relating to the storage needs of Indian smartphone users, commisioned by it and conducted by Access Media International. 1458 users across 14 cities contributed to the report. 84 percent of respondents said they spend more than four hours on their smartphones each day, and 90 percent expect to spend increasing amounts of time on their smartphones over the next year.

Lack of adequate storage was the second biggest challenge that users reported as affecting smartphone performance, behind bandwidth but ahead of battery drain. 88 percent have more than 10 apps on their phones. Social media apps are their highest priority, followed by music and video download apps, utilities, camera-related apps and then music and video streaming apps.

Around 65 percent of respondents had less than 16GB of storage on their smartphones, and 90 percent share content primarily via the Internet. When running out of space, the first thing that most users do is delete apps and even data, rather than moving it to another device.

PS4 Final Fantasy XV Luna Edition Announced

PS4 Final Fantasy XV Luna Edition Announced

PS4 Final Fantasy XV Luna Edition Announced
HIGHLIGHTS
Final Fantasy XV graces the first special edition PS4 Slim
Dubbed the PS4 Final Fantasy XV Luna Edition, it’s out on November 29
It comes with the game, a theme, and CG movie Kingsglaive
At Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, the first PS4 Slim Special Edition console was revealed. Final Fantasy XV – which is out on November 29, will have the PS4 Final Fantasy XV Luna Edition. It will cost JPY 39,980 (around Rs. 26,160) and come with a digital rental of Final Fantasy XV CG movie, Kingsglaive, a copy of the game, and an original PS4 system theme.

According to Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, the design is inspired by main character Noctis gazing to the moon during his travels throughout the game’s story and is “targeted at an older audience.”

(Also see: PS4 Slim Launch Today, Here’s Everything We Already Know)

While the PS4 has been a sales juggernaut abroad, the response to it in Japan has been lukewarm. A Final Fantasy XV-themed PS4 should prop things up a bit.

(Also see: Final Fantasy XV Release Date Delayed. Here’s Why.)
Last month it was announced that Final Fantasy XV would be delayed after proudly proclaiming a September 30 release date.

“From the moment we joined this project, our vision was to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series. Regrettably, we need a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this,” said Hajime Tabata the game director in a prepared statement. “As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologise for the additional wait. As a team, we want Final Fantasy XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”

(Also see: Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo Left Us Surprised)

And while this boilerplate comment does little to tell us the actual reason for the game’s delay, a video on the Final Fantasy XV YouTube channel confirms it is due to a day one patch. In it Tabata states that the game has gone gold (which means it is ready for manufacturing on disc and uploading to online storefronts).

“Our objective with FFXV was to deliver a Final Fantasy of the highest possible quality to every single person who buys the game. We have completed the master version [which indicates the game has gone gold] but when it comes to that highest possible quality we felt that we had not quite reached this standard yet,” Tabata said. “Accordingly in order to make this master version an even better product, we have been creating a downloadable add-on known as a patch.

FIFA Mobile 2017 Edition Released, Aims to Bring Football to Everyone

FIFA Mobile 2017 Edition Released, Aims to Bring Football to Everyone

FIFA Mobile 2017 Edition Released, Aims to Bring Football to Everyone
HIGHLIGHTS
Download size is less than 100MB
Available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone
New features include Attack Mode, Leagues, and Plans
Two weeks after the release of FIFA 17, EA Sports has delivered a new update for its mobile counterpart in FIFA Mobile. As always, the game is free with in-app purchases to boot, and is available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. The game is called different things on the three platforms – on the App Store, it’s called FIFA Mobile Football, on Google Play, FIFA Mobile Soccer, and on Windows Store it becomes FIFA 17 Mobile.

EA Sports says that the game is built for the “mobile gamer”, and hence it has shrunk the download size to under 100MB, so as to reach smartphone owners across the globe, except China – the game isn’t launching in the country. FIFA Mobile contains 30 leagues, with 650 clubs and over 16,000 footballers.

“When developing FIFA Mobile, we focused on giving players the most exciting parts of football in quick and fun bursts while prioritising gameplay and engaging, new ways to play FIFA on-the-go,” senior producer Todd Batty said in a statement. “This meant building a game that was optimised for the mobile player resulting in a fun and social game that loads quickly, runs smoothly on a wider range of devices, and has a small download size relative to the depth of features and content in the game.”

There are three new features, all exclusive to the mobile version. Attack Mode is a new turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer mode which is all about, well, attacking. You’ll be given a bunch of scenarios in which to score from, and ultimately out-score the opponent. The more you score, the more you get in-game “fans” which lets you climb divisions.
Another new feature is Leagues, which allows you to create or join a league with up to 32 players. You will be able to complete “cooperative league achievements, compete for bragging rights in inter-league championships, and challenge other Leagues in FIFA Mobile tournaments”.

Completing the round-up of new features is Plans, which is about making the most of unwanted items to get better ones through in-game rewards.

Ultimate Team mode is getting an overhaul of sorts, too. EA Sports is dropping contracts, training items and other consumables in favour of simple squad building. You can have a total of 27 players in multiple formations and tactics, and switch between those as you like.

The game will be continuously updated with new content that reflects events happening in the real world of football, EA Sports said. Early response to the latest update seems to be heavily negative, according to reviews on Google Play.

Nintendo Launches NES Classic Edition With 30 Built-In Games Like Mario, Pac-Man

Nintendo Launches NES Classic Edition With 30 Built-In Games Like Mario, Pac-Man

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nintendo’s next console is a revamped NES
  • It will be available in November
  • Don’t expect an official India release

Hot on the heels of what seems to be a bonafide hit inPokemon Go, Nintendo has announced that its iconic home console, the NES or Nintendo Entertainment System will be reintroduced for sale this year. Dubbed as The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition it comes with 30 games, HDMI support, and a controller. It will cost $59.99 (around Rs. 4,000) and will be available from November 11 in the US. An international release date has not been announced.

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers.”

What’s interesting is its games can be played with a second player by attaching a controller. There will be a standalone NES Classic Controller for sale at $9.99 (approximately Rs. 620). You can also use the Wii’s Classic Controller or the Wii U’s Classic Controller Pro. When a Wii Remote is attached, the NES Classic Controller can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U or Wii system. In a welcome addition, each game has multiple suspend points unlike their initial releases, allowing you to come back at a later time.

The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition appears to be the company’s much delayed reaction to emulators on Android and PC and with a slew of classic games for it already available on the Wii and Wii U, many hardcore gamers would simply not see the appeal. However the larger, mainstream audience would as the entry barrier towards experiencing some of Nintendo’s greatest hits will be significantly reduced. Speaking of which, each console comes with the following games:

x
  • Balloon Fight
  • Bubble Bobble
  • Castlevania Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Double Dragon II: The Revenge
  • Dr. Mario Excitebike
  • Final Fantasy
  • Galaga
  • Ghosts’N Goblins
  • Gradius
  • Ice Climber Kid
  • Icarus
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Mario Bros.
  • Mega Man Metroid
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Pac-Man
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
  • StarTropics
  • Super C (also known as Super Contra)
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Don’t expect it to hit India officially anytime soon. Nintendo does not have an official presence, but do expect independent stores to import their fair share even though similar devices from Mitashi exist.

Gears of War 4 to Get Special Edition Xbox One S Console

Gears of War 4 to Get Special Edition Xbox One S Console

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Gears of War 4 will get a special editon Xbox One S
  • It will sport the same design as the controller shown at E3 2016
  • Gears of War 4’s release date is October 11 this year

Gears of War 4 is possibly the biggest Xbox One and Windows 10 game this year what with Microsoft making it available to both via the Xbox Play Anywhere program for digital copies. However it seems that aside from having the option of buying the game on disc, Xbox One fans have something else to look forward to – a special edition console.

According to NeoGAF user ekim, who has a solid track record on Microsoft related leaks, you can expect a limited edition Xbox One S console for Gears of War 4.

“So you guys remember the Gears Of War Elite Controller that was announced at E3?,” he askedfollowing up with:

“If you like that design, you might like the Xbox One S GoW [Gears of War] Limited Edition. :)”

This should come as no surprise considering that previous entries in the series have received their own console variants. And while ekim has no concrete idea as to when it would be officially announced, hebelieves there’s a good chance it could be revealed in August.

An Xbox One S for Gears of War 4 is apt, what with the game’s studio head Rod Fergusson stating you can expect improved visuals and a more consistent frame rate on the Xbox One S over the Xbox One. And while Xbox boss Phil Spencer has flip flopped on this, multiple sources have confirmed that this is indeed the case.

Don’t expect Gears of War 4 to be in native 4K for Project Scorpio though. “We have to look at what the engine can do with the power that Scorpio has,” said Fergusson to Polygon. “Because we’re mastering at 4K, it’s not about assets or art. It’s about getting the milliseconds down in terms of getting the game to 4K at 60 or 30 [fps]depending on single-player or multiplayer.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition for PC, PS4, and Xbox One Confirmed

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition for PC, PS4, and Xbox One Confirmed

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Popular and critically acclaimed RPG The Witcher 3 will be re-released
  • This has been confirmed by developer CD Projekt RED
  • It should include all DLC, post-game content, and sport the same price

After a listing on the German age-ratings board USK revealed the existence of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- Game of the Year Edition for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed it is indeed in the works.

“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was a gigantic effort for the entire studio, and both the team and me were amazed by the good reception of Geralt’s adventures. Since launch, we’ve released two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, which added a lot of new adventures to the already potent mix,”said Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz to Eurogamer.

(Also see: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Review – Game of Thrones Meets Skyrim)

“With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game’s interface and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we’re working on some sort of a Game of the Year Edition. I’m happy to confirm – yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition. We’ll release more details, including the release date, in the future. In the meantime, I’d like to thank every fan of the game for their support – you’re really amazing!”

x

This should come as no surprise considering that the last two games in the trilogy received enhanced editions a year or so after release. While no price has been mentioned, we won’t be surprised to see it maintain the same Rs. 3,499 price on the PS4 and Xbox One and Rs. 1,499 on the PC – akin to what the base game launched at last year.

No release date has been either, although sources speaking to Eurogamer claim it will be out in August. Makes sense considering the September to November release window is filled to the brim with new games such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, FIFA 17, Gears of War 4, and Titfanfall 2.

Special Edition Game of Thrones Xbox One Revealed

Special Edition Game of Thrones Xbox One Revealed

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Microsoft has created a special edition Xbox One for Game of Thrones.
  • This has been done to celebrate the show’s season finale.
  • The design appears to remain true to the TV show.

With Game of Thrones’ latest season ending today, Microsoft has created six special edition Xbox Ones to mark the occasion. It sports a custom paint job and detailing including a generous amount of metal sticking out from the top. Quite frankly, it won’t look out of place in the world of Game of Thrones. Oddly, the console’s top vents are amiss, making us wonder how ventilation would be managed in these variants. The controller hasn’t been spared either sporting a rather sparkly look to it.

This appears to be exclusive to France and doesn’t seem to be for sale. Rather it’s available as a prize along with the Blu-ray box set of the show for participating on Xbox France’s social media pages.

It’s an interesting way to keep the console relevant. Even more so considering that Microsoft’s E3 2016showcase resulted in mixed signals about the company’s confidence in the console space.

It announced a slimmer, newer, somewhat better performing console in the Xbox One S at the beginning of a conference only to stick an expiry date onto it at the end with Project Scorpio – an even newer, even better performing console that will be out in December 2017.

To make matters worse, Xbox boss Phil Spencer confused everyone with statements on how powerful the Xbox One S is, when compared to the Xbox One. This is contrary to what its own developers claim, and multiple sources close to the company speaking to Gadgets 360 also disagreed with him.

Furthermore, he went on to state that Project Scorpio won’t do anything if you don’t have a 4K TV and that the Xbox One S is what you need if you’re at full HD or 1080p. He then backflipped on this by saying that games like Halo 5 and Gears of War 4 will have a stable 1080p resolution on the Scorpio and not the Xbox One S. It gets worse. Rather than assure gamers that the Scorpio won’t get exclusive games or features – something that was stated at Microsoft’s E3 2016 briefing – he went on to later say that developers can use its power any way they please, implying the opposite.

Download the Gadgets 360 app for Android and iOS to stay up to date with the latest tech news, product reviews, and exclusive deals on the popular mobiles.
