Coolpad Note 3S, Mega 3 India Launch Set for Wednesday
HIGHLIGHTS
Both the smartphones to launch on November 30
The smartphones are expected to be priced under Rs. 10,000
They are rumoured to support 4G VoLTE
Coolpad has sent out invites for the launch of two smartphones in India. The company is set to launch the Coolpad Note 3S and Coolpad Mega 3 smartphones in the country on Wednesday, and availability and pricing details will be known then.

The Coolpad Note 3S is set to be the successor of the Note 3 smartphone launched last year in October. Coolpad has also launched the Coolpad Note 3 Lite and Coolpad Note 3 Plus variants of the smartphone during the course of this year as well. The Coolpad Mega 3 will be the successor of the Coolpad Mega 2.5D(Review) launched just a few months ago in August. Both the smartphones are expected to be priced under Rs. 10,000, and given that most of Coolpad phones have been Amazon India exclusive, we expect these two to follow the same path.

With these new additions, Coolpad is set to enter the crowded low-budgeted market, and it remains to be seen what the company offers to introduce tough competition. For now, both the smartphones are expected to feature a 5.5-inch display screen, and come with dual-SIM and 4G VoLTE support.

The last smartphone released by Coolpad in India was the Note 5 smartphone with a massive 4010mAh battery and 4G VoLTE support. It is priced at Rs. 10,999 and is available exclusively on Amazon India as well. The big highlight on the Coolpad Note 5 is touted to be the Dual Space system that was first seen on the Coolpad Max. It enables users to have two accounts of WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and other apps on the same phone.

3 Things You Can Recycle But Probably Don’t

If you haven’t noticed, just about anything can be recycled these days. Think about what items land in your trash can (and then the landfill, of course) and whether you can find an eco-friendlier home for them. Chances are you can — as long as you know where to turn.

recycle phones

Here are three commonly tossed items and how to give them a new life:

Foam Peanuts

Foam peanuts and other plastic-based packaging and shipping materials often get tossed, because they’re not generally recycled curbside.  If you can’t reuse them yourself, many pack-and-ship stores accept and reuse used packaging materials.

Not sure if there are any such stores in your area? The Plastic Loose Fill Council has a “Peanut Hotline” (800- 828-2214) that you can call to find foam peanut drop-off sites in your area. (You can also use its online search form.) You may be able to find a home for other types of plastics using the search form on PlasticMarkets.org.

Office Supplies

Used paper clips, folders and other common office supplies often get tossed in the trash with little thought. But many of these items can be used multiple times, if someone takes the initiative to save them.

If you have employees, set up a spot where employees can leave extra used supplies and encourage other employees to check that spot first before picking up new ones. Once you do need to throw out worn or unusable supplies, most of them can be recycled.

Personal Gadgets

Manufacturers of popular smartphones will often take back your old gadgets for free and make sure they’re responsibly recycled. (Apple, for instance, will recycle used iPhones and other Apple products .)

But other companies, such as Gazelle and NextWorth, will even give you money for old smartphones, digital cameras and other devices and pay you for them. Have a mass quantities of old gadgets to toss (30 or more)? Project Kopeg will recycle them all and cut you a check. (Keep in mind that some nonprofits will also take old gadgets and give them away for a good cause. You might then be eligible for a tax deduction.)

If you have a miscellaneous array of things to get rid of and can’t find a good home, check out Freecycle.org. This site helps match you up with people in your community looking for something you no longer want. (Also don’t forget about Craigslist.)

Of course, before you give away or recycle any old technological device, make sure to thoroughly clean the hard drive. You don’t want your personal or sensitive business information getting into the wrong hands.

Forza Horizon 3 Demo Now Available on Windows 10; HDR Support for Xbox One Demo Added

Forza Horizon 3 Demo Now Available on Windows 10; HDR Support for Xbox One Demo Added
HIGHLIGHTS
Demo requires 21GB of disk space to install
HDR support for demo on Xbox One S added
Game can be downloaded from Windows Store
Beta and demo versions of most games are released well ahead of their full release in order to build the hype around the launch of the game and let the players test their machines with the game’s requirements. The latter reason has become increasingly important as the games have become more demanding than ever. Disregarding the usual trend, Microsoft has now released a demo version of its racing game Forza Horizon 3 on Windows, more than a month after its official release.
Forza Horizon 3 has been received extremely well by the critics since its release and in our review of the game, we specifically pointed out the brilliant visuals and the wide range of the car roster available in the game. The demo version of the game on Xbox One was made available ahead of its official release but for some reason, Microsoft decided to hold back the PC version up until now.

(Also Read: Forza Horizon 3 Review)
The demo for the off-road racing game by Microsoft Studios can be downloaded from Windows Store here. The demo version of the game requires disk space of around 21GB.
It should be noted that even the minimum requirements necessary to play the game are demanding than some of the other titles on PC. As per the game’s listing, your setup requires at least 8GB of RAM and an equally or more capable processor than 3.4GHz i5 3570. In terms of graphic cards, your setup should have a graphic card equally or more capable than NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti or AMD R7 250X.

Apart from releasing the demo version of the Forza Horizon 3 for PC, the company has also introduced HDR support – which has been present on the full game from day one – to the Xbox One demo version of the game, meant for players on the Xbox One S and those using an HDR display.

Forza Horizon 3 received 9 out of a possible 10 rating in our review and we termed it as “vastly improved and polished instalment in the Forza Horizon series.” Given that the PC version also supports resolutions up to 4K, it might be the best time to check if your system is ready for this monster of a game before spending your hard earned money on it.

The Original Diablo Will Be Playable in Diablo 3

The Original Diablo Will Be Playable in Diablo 3
HIGHLIGHTS
The first Diablo game will be playable in Diablo 3 via a patch
It will contain the pixellated graphics of the original
Blizzard will also bring Seasons to consoles
With 2016 marking 20 years of Diablo, Blizzard announced something special for fans of the action role-playing game franchise at BlizzCon 2016. And no it was not Diablo 4.

Rather, it’s a content patch called The Darkening of Tristram for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls. This update will bring a 16-level dungeon to the game complete with the four bosses from the original Diablo.

(Also see: Blizzard Announces New Overwatch Character Sombra at BlizzCon 2016)

Along with this, there will be special graphic filters to make the game pixelated and grainy just as it was in its original December 31, 1996 release. Movement will be locked to eight directions as well. It will be available to all current characters in-game although it’s recommended to try it out with a new character.

There’s no release date yet but The Darkening of Tristram patch will be playable via Public Test Realm (PTR) – a service to test patches before release to the general populace, next week.

(Also see: Blizzard and Google DeepMind to Use StarCraft II for AI Research)

In addition to this, two new zones will be added to the game’s Adventure Mode. These include the Shrouded Moors and the Temple of the Firstborn. Also, console owners will get Seasons, an optional competitive game mode that allows players to create and level up a new character from scratch without previous items and currency.

While there was little in the way of an announcement of a new Diablo game or expansion to mark two decades of the series, some fans are holding out, expecting a hint during one of BlizzCon 2016’s many panels. Though it seems unlikely given that the opening presentation would have been the perfect stage for such a reveal.

Blizzard Reveals Necromancer for Diablo 3 at BlizzCon 2016 as Paid DLC

Blizzard Reveals Necromancer for Diablo 3 at BlizzCon 2016 as Paid DLCBlizzard Reveals Necromancer for Diablo 3 at BlizzCon 2016 as Paid DLC
HIGHLIGHTS
The Necromancer will be coming to Diablo 3 in 2017
It will be a part of the Rise of the Necromancer Pack
Blizzard has not said how much it would cost
BlizzCon 2016 saw more Diablo announcements than usual to celebrate the series’ twentieth anniversary. Aside from stating that the original Diablo will be coming to Diablo 3 and Seasons Mode making it to consoles, Blizzard had one more trick up its sleeve, with plans to bring the Necromancer class to Diablo 3. But there’s a catch – it will be a part of paid downloadable content (DLC) referred to as the Rise of the Necromancer Pack.

“Necromancers can expect darker, more controlled gameplay centered around the raw materials of life: blood and bone. Grounded in a philosophical, pragmatic approach to life and death, they’re more like a calculated conductor of the darkest arts,” reads the description on Blizzard’s website. “ Deadly serious in their practice, they are the experts of curses and reanimation—and their pets obey their every command.”

(Also see: The Darkening of Tristram to Bring the Original Diablo to Diablo 3)
Though Blizzard are yet to detail the Necromancer’s abilities, a screenshot from BlizzCon 2016 has been doing the rounds confirming what you could expect when the class hits in 2017.

Diablo 3 Necromancer abilities:
Corpse Explosion: target an area exploding all corpses dealing damage.
Blood Rush: shed your mortal flesh and re-appear yards away, passing through most obstacles.
Siphon Blood: drain the blood of your enemies dealing damage and restoring essence.
Bone Spear: summon a piercing bone projectile that causes damage to all enemies it passes through
Decrypify: a crippling curse that reduces the enemy unit’s movement speed and damage done to you
Command Skeletons: command your skeletal minions to attack the target and increase their damage. The skeleton cap seems to be ten units ( seven melee and three ranged skeletons).
(Also see: Blizzard Announces New Overwatch Character Sombra at BlizzCon 2016)
“In addition to unlocking the Necromancer as a playable character, players will also receive an in-game pet, two additional character slots, two additional stash tabs (on PC), a portrait frame, pennant, banner, and banner sigil,” the site claims in way of what else will make up the cost of playing as a Necromancer.

It will be interesting to see what else comes along with the Necromancer since it is a paid piece of content. Other Blizzard games like Overwatch don’t charge for new characters, making this an oddity of sorts. And it seems that Blizzard isn’t ready to say much else about it right now aside from well, it will be purchasable.

“We’re not ready to announce a price just yet,” states an official FAQ.

While there was little in the way of an announcement of a new Diablo game or expansion to mark two decades of the series, some fans are holding out, expecting a hint during one of BlizzCon 2016’s many panels. Infosys to ‘Redeploy’ 3,000 Employees After RBS Cancels Contract

Infosys to 'Redeploy' 3,000 Employees After RBS Cancels Contract

Global software major Infosys on Wednesday said it will not lay off nearly 3,000 techies after the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) cancelled its contract for setting up a new bank (Williams & Glyn) but redeploy them in other projects.

“We would like to clarify that there are no job losses and that all employees affected by the ramp down that will take place over the next several months will be redeployed on other projects,” the company said in a statement.

There were reports on August 16 that Infosys will soon lay off about 3,000 techies.

“Subsequent to this (RBS) decision, we will carry out an orderly ramp-down of about 3,000 persons, primarily in India, over the next few months,” the city-based IT major had disclosed on its website but did not share details with the media.

The Edinburgh-based RBS announced last week that it would no longer pursue its plan to separate and list a new UK (British) standalone bank (W&G) and instead pursue other options for the divestment of its business.

“We have been a W&G programme technology partner for consulting, application delivery and testing services,” the IT outsourcing company said on its website.

According to company sources here, RBS signed a five-year multi-million dollar contract with Infosys and the US-based software major IBM for providing IT services to its proposed W&G bank.

“As RBS has a key relationship for us, we look forward to strengthening our strategic partnership and working with it across other transformation programmes,” the company added.

Asus ZenFone 3 Series First Impressions

Asus ZenFone 3 Series First Impressions

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The ZenFone 3 starts in India at a price of Rs. 21,999
  • ZenFone 3 Deluxe becomes the most expensive phone from Asus
  • It’s also the first Snapdragon 821-powered phone in India

Asus has introduced its new ZenFone 3 series of smartphones in India. At its ‘Zenvolution’ event in New Delhi, the Taiwanese company unveiled the new ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenFone 3 Laser, and ZenFone 3 Ultra smartphones. The company also launched the ZenBook 3 and Transformer 3 Pro devices at the same event.

Those familiar with the company’s ZenFone smartphone range may associate it with the budget-to-mid segment. The new ZenFone 3 range is here though, and it is more focused on the mid-to-premium segment. Asus CEO had previously told Gadgets 360 that the company was looking to break into the premium segment where it lacked the most. All the new smartphones under the ZenFone 3 range will try to fight it out in different price segments. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe is the company’s most expensive smartphone ever and will be taking on some heavyweights such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6s.

x

There are few similarities in the ZenFone smartphone range as the four new Asus smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, feature metal bodies, USB Type-C, and support hybrid dual-SIM card slots. With a refreshed approach and a brand new range, will the Asus ZenFone 3 series make an impact in the Indian market? We will have to wait till all the phones go on sale. At the launch event, we got some time to play with the devices and below our first impressions.Asus ZenFone 3 design and display
In terms of design, the new ZenFone 3 series looks to be designed from scratch. At the event, the company touted that the ZenFone 3 series saw a “radical change” from what was seen on the previous generation.

(Also see: Asus to Focus on Premium Smartphone Segment in India)

The standard Asus ZenFone 3 sports 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panels at the front and rear, and 6.16mm all-round metal frame. With a side profile of 7.7mm, the ZenFone 3 never looked uncomfortable to hold. The ZenFone 3 also sports the iconic hairline concentric circle pattern at the back.

asus_zenfone_3_deluxe_screen_gadgets360.jpgThe ZenFone 3 Deluxe, on the other hand, features the sandblasted aluminium alloy unibody with what the company calls the “invisible antenna” design. The handset sports Corning Gorilla Glass 4 upfront. Despite a screen size of 5.7-inch, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe never seemed too uncomfortable to hold, and was easy to grip thanks to the curve at the rear. The metallic chamfered edges give the handset a premium and sturdy feel.

Much like the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, the ZenFone 3 Ultra also sports the “invisible antenna” design at the back. The handset sports a sandblasted aluminium alloy unibody and at 6.8-inches is definitely too big for one hand.

asus_zenfone_3_rear_gadgets360.jpgThe ZenFone 3 Laser also follows other ZenFone 3 smartphones and sports an all-metal body. At 7.9mm thin side profile, the ZenFone 3 Laser also offered decent grip with curved back panel.

Asus has placed the fingerprint sensor near the top of the rear panel, which easily allows the user’s index finger rest to unlock it. We see same placement of the rear fingerprint scanner module on the ZenFone 3 (seen above), ZenFone 3 Laser, and ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

asus_zenfone_3_deluxe_sides_gadgets360.jpgNotably, the ZenFone 3 Ultra houses the fingerprint scanner at the front, embedded in the home button. The company claims that the fingerprint sensor allows for rapid unlocking of the phone in just 0.2 seconds, and also allows up to five fingerprints to be registered. During our limited usage, the fingerprint was quick enough on all the devices including the large ZenFone 3 Ultra.

Asus has launched two ZenFone 3 models in India, the ZenFone 3 (ZE520KL) featuring a 5.2-inch display, and the ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL) featuring a 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) screen resolution. Screens on the ZenFone 3 (ZE520KL) and (ZE552KL) models looked vibrant with decent colour reproduction. At 600nits of brightness, the display on both models never looked flat in terms of brightness or colours.

asus_zenfone_3_series_usb_type_c_gadgets360.jpgThe ZenFone 3 Deluxe sports a 5.7-inch Super Amoled display with a screen resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. It also features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection from scratches. The company says that the handset comes with a contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1. During our limited usage, the display was crisp and sharp. It offered deep black backgrounds and colours showed up accurate.

The ZenFone 3 Ultra features a massive 6.8-inch IPS LCD display with a 1080×1920 pixels screen resolution. The IPS panel offers decent colours and the company claims it can deliver viewing angles of up to 178-degrees. The handset also sports Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The ZenFone 3 Laser sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. At 500nits brightness, the smartphone offers a vibrant screen. It packs the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and comes with 2.5D glass. It also offers up to 178 degrees wide-viewing angle.

Asus ZenFone 3 camera
Asus claims that one of the biggest improvements in the ZenFone 3 is in terms of camera as all the phones in the series sports the company’s PixelMaster 3.0 tech. All the phones in the series pack Sony sensors for optics. The ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Laser, ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and ZenFone 3 Ultra sport 6-element Largan lens with protective sapphire glass cover. All the phones support OIS (optical image stabilisation) for photos while there is EIS (electronic image stabiliser) for blur-free video. The handsets feature dual tone flash and come with Super Resolution feature that creates a single, detailed photo at 4x with real-time automatic Super HDR.

asus_zenfone_3_deluxe_camera_gadgets360.jpgIn the limited time spent with the ZenFone 3 series, we found the camera app to be really fast. It locked the focus in no time and can be handy for some quick snapping. There are plenty of camera options for users to choose from. Some of the rear camera features include HDR Pro, Beautification, Super Resolution, Low Light (that automatically clicks images at 4-megapixels), night mode, and manual among others. All the ZenFone 3 phones sport an 8-megapixel front camera. We will reserve our verdict of the Asus ZenFone 3 series camera performance until we get a chance to put it through its paces for a detailed review.

Asus ZenFone 3 software
One of the biggest improvements we noticed in the ZenFone 3 series was in terms of software. All the phones came with a brand new ZenUI 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The new interface looked less cluttered and simplified.

asus_zenfone_3_series_marshmallow_gadgets360.jpgThe ZenUI 3.0 comes with less bloatware as compared to previous ZenFone phones. Some of the highlights of the new interface are real-time animated weather and clock widgets; new parallax motion effect for wallpaper; an all-new Theme Store that comes with selected themes; Game Genie, a brand-new feature focused at gamers that lets you broadcast gameplay live via YouTube or Twitch; new photo editing tools in PhotoCollage with PhotoEffect app; new gesture support for double tap waking up the display, and the Mobile Manager, which clears the RAM and provides other features. We will have more about the software when we review the ZenFone 3 smartphones.

Asus ZenFone 3 specifications
Under the hood, the Asus ZenFone 3 (ZE520KL) is powered by 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, same as the ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL). The 5.2-inch variant however comes with less RAM and storage – 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while the 5.5-inch variant packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. The ZenFone 3 Laser is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The large Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra (ZU680KL) is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. Lastly, the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and it comes with 6GB of RAM. There is a special edition as well which is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and packs massive 256GB of storage.

asus_zenfone_3_series_rear_gadgets360.jpgWe didn’t face any lags while playing with any of the ZenFone 3 phones. All the phones were quick enough when it comes to launching apps. Out of the four phones, the ZenFone 3 Ultra with big screen and dual speakers is targeted at users that consume media on the go. We will reserve our verdict of the ZenFone 3 series performance until we get a chance to put it through its paces for a detailed review.

Asus ZenFone 3 price in India
The new Asus ZenFone 3 series has something for everyone but admittedly misses the budget segment entirely. The company has priced the ZenFone 3 (ZE520KL) at Rs. 21,999, the ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL) at Rs. 27,999, the ZenFone 3 Ultra (ZU680KL) at Rs. 49,999, and ZenFone 3 Laser (ZC551KL) at 18,999. The ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) starts at Rs. 49,999, with the Snapdragon 821 model priced at Rs. 62,999.

This year, Asus expanded the availability of the ZenFone 3 series, which means consumers should be able to easily get their hands on the new range. With the lowest pricing at Rs. 18,999, the ZenFone 3 range has definitely tried to shed the budget tag from its handsets but it will be interesting to see how well the phones do in the Indian market.

Stay tuned for our review of the Asus ZenFone 3 series.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Popular and critically acclaimed RPG The Witcher 3 will be re-released
  • This has been confirmed by developer CD Projekt RED
  • It should include all DLC, post-game content, and sport the same price

After a listing on the German age-ratings board USK revealed the existence of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- Game of the Year Edition for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, developer CD Projekt RED has confirmed it is indeed in the works.

“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was a gigantic effort for the entire studio, and both the team and me were amazed by the good reception of Geralt’s adventures. Since launch, we’ve released two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, which added a lot of new adventures to the already potent mix,”said Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz to Eurogamer.

“With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game’s interface and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we’re working on some sort of a Game of the Year Edition. I’m happy to confirm – yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition. We’ll release more details, including the release date, in the future. In the meantime, I’d like to thank every fan of the game for their support – you’re really amazing!”

This should come as no surprise considering that the last two games in the trilogy received enhanced editions a year or so after release. While no price has been mentioned, we won’t be surprised to see it maintain the same Rs. 3,499 price on the PS4 and Xbox One and Rs. 1,499 on the PC – akin to what the base game launched at last year.

No release date has been either, although sources speaking to Eurogamer claim it will be out in August. Makes sense considering the September to November release window is filled to the brim with new games such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, FIFA 17, Gears of War 4, and Titfanfall 2.
